Sigh

I didn't run on Wednesday. On Thursday I ran Brookline and felt absolutely terrible. This morning I did 6 to Fresh Pond and back and felt crappy still. I got waitlisted at Northeastern today. This is very bad.

Puke

No running today. Bummer. I didn't feel like going right when I got up because I didn't know how I'd feel. I could have gone for a run, but taking one more day just to be sure is a good thing. For a good description of how I felt on Monday, please see this Family Guy video. The scary part is that it really isn't very far at all from the truth.... ouch.

Please watch the video... it's one of the funnier things I've ever seen...

Down with the Sickness

Hi all. I know I haven't updated in a while... sorry about that.

Let's see... on Sunday Bromka, Chris Jackson (BC '05, friends with Tim Creedon) and I had a really good long run. We met Chris at BC, and ran to Wellesley and back. It was 18 miles, and an awesome run. There were about 200 (I'm not kidding) people training along the route. I think we passed about 6 water/aid stations that people had set up for various training groups/friends. This was nice because we were able to get water/gatorade about every 3 miles or so. I took GU again at about 15 miles, and I think it helped. The run was especially good because I got a taste of what the Newton hills will feel like when my legs are tired. They're going to suck, but I think I should be able to deal with them just fine. I'm guessing we ran about 6:45 pace on the way out and about 6:30 on the way back.

On Monday morning, AK, Hog, Bromka and I ran an easy 6 around Boston. My legs were tired, but not too bad.

Monday turned out to be a pretty bad day. I met AK, Skip, and Matt Lacey at Downtown Crossing for some lunch. We went to Chacarero. I would not recommend eating here. We ate about noon. I returned to work, and started to feel ill at about 1. I realized that I wasn't getting any work done, and was experiencing intense nausea. I decided to leave work, because I really didn't want to throw up in my office or in the bathroom at Foley. The entire T ride home, I willed myself not to barf, which was no easy task. Immediately upon walking into the apartment, I made it to the bathroom, and booted everywhere. I mean a really solid rocket vomit. I emptied my stomach, and proceeded to feel terribly ill for the next 12 hours. I didn't eat any solid food until today at about noon. And that was just 3 cookies. Ugh. Needless to say, I didn't run today, which is a bummer, considering I hadn't missed a day in about 4 months. (This streak pales in comparison to my summer 97-summer 02 steak of 5 years and 11 days of not missing a day, but whose counting?).

I think that's it. I really hope I feel much better tomorrow, and I think I will. I might run, but probably not. Marathon's only 3 weeks away anyway, so a little time off won't really hurt the taper.
