Pre-race

So... tomorrow is the half marathon. I hope the cold isn't too terrible, and that the roads aren't too slippery. If mother nature cooperates then I think it could be realy fun. If not...... ugh. We'll see.

AK and I ran an easy 5.5 today. I felt pretty good.

Also, Bromka, AK and I went to CRASH B's today at BU, which was really cool to see. I'll write more about it tomorrow....

Quick update

Yesterday Bromka and I ran Jamaica Pond. It was 9 miles, and I felt pretty good.
This morning I ran by myself, and did 10 on the Charles. I averaged about 6:30, which is about the pace I'l have to run for the marathon. I think that's it for now...

I can't live without it

Tonight, AK, Bromka and I went to Anna's in Brookline. It was really really good. We had planned to go as an apartment during the day, but Hog had to go home to NH (because he sucks), and Skip had to stay late at work (becuase The Man owns his soul). So, I realize that by doing this, I preclude myself from achieving one of my To-Do List goals this week. I think I came to the decision that I value Anna's more than I value one goal on the To-Do List. I also think the goal of "Not eating Anna's for a week" is a terrible goal, and that my roomates wrote this down just to watch me squirm. After discussing this goal with them, we concluded that the "goal" of the goal was to have me branch out with my eating habits, and that not eating Anna's for a week was a round-about and ineffective way of acheiving this. Anyway, Anna's was mad tasty tonight. (Bromka just said "Double True" regarding this last sentence.)

Bromka and I ran Brookline this morning, and my legs still were a little tired from the long run on Sunday. I'm excited for the half marathon this weekend, hopefully it goes well.

To Do List

I don't think I even need to explain why I'm not a fan of this week's To-Do List. Despite one of my "goals" being absolutely RIDICULOUS, I present the updated To-Do List...

Not going to work is Sweet

I have today off from work, which is awesome, because... well, I don't have to go to work. I just finished up running 10 miles on the Charles. Out to Science Museum, back to Harvard, and then back to Mass Ave. My quads were pretty sore, which I think is from the long run yesterday.

Yesterday I joined the Tufts Marathon training group for a long run. We met at President Bacow's house at 8:00am (which was way too early), and got on a bus which drove us to the start of the Marathon in Hopkinton. From there, we ran along the course to Wellesley College, which is about 12 miles in. I added on a little after to give me about 16, which took 1:53:20. I felt pretty good the whole time, and it was really nice to see the first half of the course. I understand now how people can go out really hard and bonk bad at heartbreak, as the first half of the course is very very easy. It's pretty much flat or downhill for the first 12 miles. I'll be sure to be somewhat conservative on April 17th, because I don't want the race to get too ugly during the last 6 miles.

Oh, last week I ran 51 miles, which is terrible. I guess I can blame it on the early week snow storm, but I need to be closer to 70 a week.

I would like to state for the record that I really dislike Ellen Pompeo, both as Ellen Pompeo, and as Dr. Meredith Grey. If anyone saw the Punk'd she was in, I couldn't see how they'd disagree. Terrible person. Also a terrible character in Grey's Anatomy. Did she really hook up with George? Honestly! Die! Meredith Grey, you are a bad person. (I could get into a much more in depth discussion of Grey's, but I'm pretty hungry right now and am probably going to go eat some cookies.)

Finally, I'd like to send a huge shout-out (ala TRL..."OhmygodIwanttorequest BrittanySpears'"Crazy"becuaseshe'ssohot andsuchagoodrolemodel WOOOOOOO!!!!!!"). He's had his website "CurranStat" up and running for quite some time now, and it's pretty excellent. Besides being a pretty funny spoof on the real Dyestat, it was the originator of the To-Do List, and the always excellent CurranStat Elite. Recently, I was awarded my third (1, 2, 3) Curranstat Elite Status, which qualified me for Curranstat Gold Status. This is a serious honor, and I'm both grateful and humbled to receive such an award. Thank you Sean, and keep up the great work on CurranStat.
